A 30-year-old Primary School teacher in Rukungiri district is missing after being swept away by flooding waters of River Mineera while riding a motorcycle.
Michael Tumwesigye was a teacher at Kebisoni Integrated Primary School and resident of Migyera village, Nyarushanje Sub County in Rukungiri district.
He reportedly fell into the river at Mineera bridge in Rwankoma village Kebisoni Town Council.
The flooding river cut off traffic flow along on Wednesday morning following a heavy downpour which started on Tuesday at around 3 pm and went on for about 9 hours.
Elly Maate, the Kigezi regional police spokesman says following the incident, the road was temporarily closed to avoid more fatalities.
The motorcycle registration number UDM 665D which the teacher was riding was later recovered.
