NEWS– Touch One Reach All (TOORA) together with Rural Child Empowerment Forum (RUCEF) on Saturday 12th November 2022 commissioned three clean water springs in Ruhinda Sub County Rukungiri district to improve access to Clean Water and Sanitation.
While speaking at the Launch of one of the water springs in Kyebikyere Cell in Rwoya, Ndere Parish in Ruhinda, the Founder and Team Leader of Touch One Reach All, Levi Tukundane Napoleon appreciated their partnership with RUCEF for extending the project to Ruhinda Rukungiri from Mbarara district where they have been implementing the same project for the last seven years.
“It is a great step made by RUCEF to consider partnership with TOORA in implementation of this Water Project in Ruhinda. Communities in Ruhinda still need clean water that is a fundamental service to sustainable development which we stand for. We commit to strengthening our partnership with RUCEF for more services to be implemented in Ruhinda.” Said Tukundane.
RUCEF and TOORA have supported and co-supervised a Project funded by partners, Esra, Ahmet Emre and Orkun aiming to improve access to Clean Water and Sanitation in Ruhinda in pursuit of Sustainable Development Goal number 6 ‘Clean Water and Sanitation for all’
The project that started last year, has seen several water tanks constructed and opened for use in communities including Kyebikyere Cell in Ndere Parish, Kabale Moslem community in Kicwamba parish and Butembe also in Kicwamba parish.
“We believe that when communities are equipped with clean water sources, we will be able to kick out many diseases and all related challenges given the low levels of income in our families. The goal of this project is to build capacities of communities starting with households for community transformation and sustainable development. We have implemented several projects in Mbarara but the need for clean water inspired our choice to partner with TOORA to bring this project in Ruhinda.” added Mugambe.
In Uganda, millions are navigating the COVID-19 pandemic effects with the added challenge of living without access to safe water. High population growth rate has stressed the water and sanitation services that exist.
