NEWS– The Grade One Magistrates Court sitting in Kanungu and presided over by His Worship Athanasuis Mukobi has charged and remanded 6 teachers from Kanungu District over forgery and uttering false documents.
Prosecution told court that that Grace Zawedde an assistant instructor at Nyakatare technical institute in the department of agriculture, Alfred Mwesigye a teacher at Kambuga Senior Secondary school, Felix Okori an assistant instructor at Nyakatare technical institute in the department of building and construction were suspected of uttering false documents.
Others include Samson Kiseka a teacher at Kihihi High school, Fred Ssenkayi an instructor at Nyakatare technical institute in the department of agriculture and Happiness Byaruhanga school bursar of Nyamirama Seed school while in Kanungu District who allegedly forged appointment letters and posting instructions.
Court was told that the accused have been using the forged documents to teach in Government of Uganda aided institutions and in total, they have caused Government a loss of Ugx 500 million in salaries and allowances paid to them.
They all pleaded not guilty to the charges and through their lawyers asked for bail but the magistrate remanded them to Kanungu Central Prison till November 17th 2022 when the case will come up for mention and ruling on their bail application.
