BUSHENYI- Six members of the same family who perished in Masaka Kampala Highway accident were on Monday laid to rest in a sorrowful mood at their ancestral home Bunyarigi cell, Central Division in Bushenyi Municipality
Cleopus Bwesigye who was a crime intelligence officer in Kampala Metropolitan South headquarters at Katwe died in a road crash together with his brother, wife and three children on the Masaka-Kampala highway.
The traffic police spokesperson, Faridah Nampiima explained that Bwesigye was traveling back to Kampala Saturday morning in a Toyota Wish UBE 756C, which got involved in a head-on collision with a Fuso Fighter truck UBH 902U at Kyarushowe swamp.
The other passengers who perished with Bwesigye are Philomena Nyagoma 3, Felestine Nyakato 3, Darliton Kiiza 1 and their mother, Maria Kemigisha, Chrispus Twesigye, a brother to Bwesigye.
Muhwezi Njunwoha the father and grand to the deceased asked the mourners to pray for him and family to remain strong in this trying moment adding that God has decided so.
Muhwezi highlighted to the mourners that the tragedy has reduced his family from 11 members to currently five.
Rev Father Hillary Katusiime the Kitabi parish priest during the send off mass confirmed to the congregation that God is the one who gives and takes and challenged them to prepare their way so that God finds them clean when their time comes.
The function attracted a thousands of mourners together with dignitaries including area Parliamentarians, Religious leaders, local government leaders, opinion leaders among others.
The incident comes shortly after police released road crash statistics for the month of June and early July showing that 435 people died and more than 1300 escaped with injuries from crashes.
