The national army has labelled as false a statement issued by South Sudan army regarding the recent border conflict.
UPDF spokesperson Brig Gen Flavia Byekwaso said on Sunday that what Brig Gen Lul Koang put in his statement was false.
Koang has said that UPDF soldiers attacked their post at Pongee in Magwi County.
But Byekwaso insists it’s a platoon of about 36 SSPDF soldiers who erected an illegal checkpoint at Ted-Nagwe in Pangira subcounty, Lamwo district.
UPDF then deployed to Ngomoromo on a fact-finding mission but South Sudan troops lying in ambush opened fire at an approaching UPDF commander.
UPDF returned fire killing two SSPDF soldiers and capturing another with three SMG rifles.
The bodies of the deceased were later handed over to Juba authorities.
