MALAWI- Uganda has emerged the overall first runners up in the just concluded African Spelling Bee competition in Blantyre, Malawi.
Team Uganda comprised three Spelling bees including Ahabyoona Loads from Parental Care Primary School Bushenyi, Joseph Turibamwe and Kalyesubula Alvin Victor from Mugwanya Preparatory school Kabojja in Kampala.
The trio was the best at the National spelling bee competition held at Serena Kampala hotel in October where their Schools emerged competition winners.
In a competition that came to climax this afternoon, Uganda came second after Nigeria who had emerged winners in the junior category and last in senior category.
Uganda who had had no participant in the junior category was able to scoop the second position beating the hosts Malawi in a competition that attracted numerous African Countries.
