KAMPALA– Uganda has today received 1,674,270 doses of Pfizer COVID 19 vaccines from the government of the United States of America.
The largest consignment of vaccines so far was received by ministry of health officials including permanent secretary Diana Atwiine and state minister in charge of primary health care management Margret Muhanga.
According to Sheila Nduhukire, the National medical store spokesperson, Uganda has so far received 2,153,140 doses of AstraZeneca, 300,000 doses of Sinovac and 647,080 of moderna.
While receiving the vaccines Nduhukire, said that National medical stores have sufficient capacity to store the received vaccines.
She further said that vaccines shall be distributed according to ministry of health guidelines.

Relatedly; The Ministry of Health has asked National Medical Stores to withdraw Covid-19 vaccines from districts which will not have used them by September 25.
Statistics from the Ministry of Health indicate that out of 2,152,840 doses of vaccines that were distributed to districts, only 1,697,748 doses have been utilised. This means up to 455,095 doses have not yet been administered.
A September 17th letter from the Ministry to all chief administrative officers states that up to 68 districts have balances that will expire on September 30th.
