NTUNGAMO- The secretary General of Uganda Red Cross Society Robert Kwesiga has called on all Uganda Red cross society branch governing board leaders to deliver high quality services and demand the use of resources most effectively and efficiently in line with the fundamental principles of the Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement of humanity, unity and voluntary service.
Kwesiga noted that violation or non-adherence to fundamental principles such as mismanagement of public funds, fraud and corruption, abuse of authority, sexual misconduct and sexual harassment shall not be tolerated and any member will be liable for expulsion from the membership of the Society.
This was contained in the message read for him on saturday during the Ntungamo district Uganda Red Cross Society branch annual general meeting and election of Branch Governing Board members held in society’s main Hall in Ntungamo Municipality.
Kwesiga thanked the outgoing branch governing board members for their service and support to the society which has contributed to the society’s transitioning from the recovery process to the current phase of sustainability and sustainable development.
The Ntungamo district Uganda Red Cross society branch governing board chairman commissioner Stephen Tashobya revealed that the Society has phased out 2017/2020 and generated the new strategic plan 2021/2025 which focuses mainly on growth, development and sustainability of the Society.
Hon Tashobya who was maintained as the chairperson of Branch Governing Board said that the branch has increased the blood donor mobilization coverage reaching deep in the district which has yielded 2,836 units of blood.
However, he asked the members of the Society to organize quarterly membership forums in the form of fundraising, dinner or marathons aiming at getting an asset that would bring income and membership for the branch.
The Branch manager Tanyebwa Collins highlighted the achievements of the branch including mobilizing 60 blood donation sessions in three months and trained a total of new members in basic first aid and response skills.
Tanyebwa noted that they started implementation of the second year micro project fighting against gender based violence in the four sub counties of Rubaare, Nyakyeera, Nyabihoko and Ruhaama East.
The election was conducted by Topher Nshemereza the assistant chief administrative officer Ntungamo and the following members were maintained.
Hon Stephen Tashobya as chairperson branch governing board, deputized by Byarugaba Aggrey, Luyimbazi Boaz as a treasurer, Hon Beatrice Rwakimaari and Jeninah Kemigisha Hoops as women representatives, Katusiime David Kabaka, Turigye Gladys and Elliott Kabangira Magande in charge of media and public relations.
The new members on board were Asimire Hillary as youth chairperson, Ampeire Sarah and Cranmer Natumanya as General Secretary.
Elliott Kabangira Magande in charge of media and public relations who is also General Manager Radio Ankole commended the Uganda Red Cross members for entrusting them with authority to serve them pledging to deliver service.
Kabangira Magande tasked all members to intensify membership sensitization such that people can understand the mandate of the society and increase the membership base.
