Just days
after acquiring a new ride – Benz ML 350 – DJ Michael has called the Uganda
Musicians Association very fruitless and upto no good, and therefore, he is
planning to quit.
He explained
that he has been a very active member of the association representing dancehall
artistes but they are neither paid nor appreciated. He also added that he can become
any other thing but not the president of UMA. Why? He argued that all the president
receives is exposure to insults and getting mocked day and night for a job that
does not pay.
“I can
never contest for the UMA presidency. It is fruitless. Nothing comes out of it. You
aren’t paid but artistes spend time mocking you. I have done a lot. I am also going
to quit very soon,” he said.
He also noted
that the association is full of fights, disagreements and a lack of solidarity
among members that even when they call them out for a protest, they don’t show
up.
He has
supported Ykee Benda who has announced that he will be stepping down from the
position of president. Michael said the position is not permanent and one gains
nothing.
