By Hussein Kiganda Victor Kamenyo (real name Derrick Katongole) has denied physically assaulting his wife. In a video that made rounds on social media this week, the Lugaflow rapper appeared to be beating her up. He has asked the public to take a keen look at the video, saying not everything is as it seems. The singer claims that he was only trying to beg his wife to stay as the two had had misunderstandings. “People should stop judging me over something I didn’t do. If you take a close look at that video, you will realise that I never raised my hands against her. I was trying to pull her back, begging her to stay,” he said. Kamenyo explained that he and his wife had had a disagreement and she chose to leave, which he didn’t want. “It was a simple misunderstanding over something she had seen on my phone. She became angry and wanted to leave, but you know when someone is angry, they can do something stupid, so I decided to restrain her,” he explained. However, this saga has been perceived as a stunt that is aimed at promoting an upcoming show that Kamenyo has been promising to hold in the coming months. Despite Kamenyo quashing the claims from a section of netizens, Ugandans are known for putting up such stunts to win public sympathy and to have big numbers at shows.
