Training the long term and short term observers at Meliva Guest House Mbarara, the Executive director Kakonge Lee Apollo said that the contingent 600 members that were drawn from Districts of greater Bushenyi, greater Mbarara and Ntungamo.
Kakonge adds that the observers will be at grassroot level to observe the entire election process and offer a balanced and informed assessment of the elections and make recommendations.
Kakonge advised the trained observers to be non-partisan and be law-abiding observers if they are to deliver service expected of them.
Natamba Edward, one of the trainers who is the coordinator of Southwestern Institute of Policy and Advocacy (SOWIPA) asked the observers to avoid any form of involvement in electoral violence.
Natamba urged them to be mindful against being manipulated and used to spread misinformation that could cause havoc within communities they are reporting from.
Zadock Amanyisa the coordinator of Western Ankole Civil Society Forum (WACSOF) said that they are deploying them to contribute to enhance the democratization process in the region.
He noted that they will cover as many polling stations with concentration on hotspot areas of Ntungamo, Bushenyi, Sheema and Isingiro districts.
