The National Womens’ Council of Uganda has embarked on a blood donation drive aiming at raising 10,000 liters of blood to save mothers and accident victims who may be in need of blood in their treatment process.
These kicked off the exercise on Monday at Singo Military Barracks with an overwhelming number of soldiers taking part. Other collection points include Mini Price, Owino Market and Old taxi park in Kampala.
Hajjat Faridah Kibowa the chairperson of National Women Council while donating blood at Owino Market, called upon all people in places where they have established blood donation centres to support the cause.

“Let us help each other because you never when you or your relative will be in need of the blood. Blood is not manufactured anywhere but we need to get it from good hearted individuals wilfully.”
By closure of the first day of the blood donation exercise, they had collected over 650 liters of blood which gave them hope that they will surpass their target.
