Presidential Candidates Muntu, Kyagulanyi & Amuriat vow to jointly protect Thursday Vote

Presidential candidates Mugisha Muntu Gregg of the Alliance for National Transformation-ANT, Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu of the National Unity Platform-NUP and Patrick Oboi Amuriat of the Forum for Democratic Change candidate-FDC have agreed on a joint vote protection team.The announcement was made at Hotel Africana in Kampala on Tuesday morning.The trio says that despite their differences and competition, vote protection is an issue that brings them together since it is very important to all forces of change. The candidates also urged all Ugandans to turn out in big numbers and not only vote but also stay around to protect their votes, despite the Electoral Commission’s guidelines of “Cast your vote and leave.”A vote is your democratic right and duty. All fellow Ugandans of voting age should turn up in their numbers and vote. Casting a vote is expression of who you want to be your leaders for the next five years. Without determining the right leader, in the next five years, you will have failed your constitutional responsibility,” FDC Presidential Candidate POA said.   Meanwhile, ANT’s Gen Muntu noted that politics is at the center of everyone’s day life and that everything must be done to ensure that the politics is straightened up. “In this corroborative effort, we appeal to Ugandans to turn up in large numbers” Muntu said.   Kyagulanyi on the other hand said that they are determined to win this week’s election despite the challenges they have gone through like abducting and arresting his campaign teams. “The regime is trying to discourage Ugandans from turning up and vote. We are raising our voices and calling upon Ugandans to vote” He noted.Meanwhile, the grandfather of opposition and four time presidential contender Col. Dr. Kizza Besigye welcomed the move to work together, arguing that the terror and violence seems to be scaled up every election. “The lower the support goes, the more they become repressive.  There is need for this togetherness to fight for the people’s will to be protected” Besigye said.
