It was beyond a cocktail: then we should call it a Christmas eve teargas festival that soldiers held for Bobi Wine.
The National Unity Platform presidential candidate was Thursday December 24, 2020 campaigning in Sembabule town.
Security lobbied teargas and used water cannons to disperse crowds that had joined his procession across town.
“A vote of thanks to the people of Sembabule for the strongest resistance against the state organized brutality,” he said.
Once again, he accused Special Forces Command (SFC) of sabotaging his rally like just in Gomba district on the same day.
“When we got there, SFC soldiers had organised a group of young people dressed in NRM t-shirts who were meant to jeer us but on seeing us, they got excited and instead started cheering us.”
He said UPDF soldiers blocked him from accessing his campaign venue.
“(They) beat up our supporters and spayed us with water and tear gas but the people of Sembabule nevertheless made a very strong statement.”
“Thank you brothers and sisters for ashaming the devil.”
Candidates are expected to take a short Christmas break to celebrate with their families before resuming the campaign trail.
