State House has dismissed as fake a letter allegedly written by President Museveni ordering the ruling party candidates to win at all costs.
The letter which has now turned out to be fake, cited a growing opposition influence and the fact that NRM flag bearers and NRM-leaning independents were losing their foothold.
National Unity Platform presidential candidate Robert Kyagulanyi aka Bobi Wine shared the letter and said:
“ALERT: Letter by Gen. Museveni! 1. Deploys military/police to do partisan political work on his behalf. 2. Uses tax payers’ money for evil schemes. 3. Gives orders that his candidates must win AT ALL COSTS. 4. ADMITS HE’S VERY SCARED.What a shameless man!”
Senior Presidential Press Secretary Don Wanyama dismissed it as amatuerish.
“@HEBobiwine and team are getting desperate. These are amateurish forgeries,” Don tweeted.
He added: “Anyone who knows @KagutaMuseveni’s communication standards, will quickly see the fakeness. Importantly, all party matters are communicated on “NRM Chairman” letterhead not State House. Poor try.”
NRM party also tweeted: “It is Important for all of us to note that this document is FAKE!
All party matters are communicated on “NRM Chairman” letterhead not @StateHouseUg. Disregard It!”
Even opposition figure Kizza Besigye has shared the letter and written:
“What goes on in Uganda’s “elections” is beyond belief! That’s the NRM State.”
