Gen Muhoozi: Colonialists Supporting Uganda’s Opposition will be Defeated

Special Forces Commander, Lt Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba has warned what he described as “colonialists” of “defeat” as Uganda prepares for the January 14 general elections.
It all started with Bobi Wine’s lawyer Robert Amsterdam calling for action from the diplomatic community in Uganda after an online Ghetto TV cameraman, Ashraf Kasirye, was injured by a teargas canister in Masaka this Sunday morning.
“Unbelievable how quite the diplomatic community is in the midst of mindless carnage,” tweeted Amsterdam, who provides legal support to several opposition figures in Africa.
Amsterdam was relying on a Tweet from NUP alleging that Kasirye had been “shot” and was “feared dead.”
In response, Gen Muhoozi today said, “The colonialists are trying to change their stripes but every African patriot knows who they are!”
Muhoozi, who doubles as the Senior Presidential Advisor in charge of special operations, added: “’Nkosi Sikelel iAfrica’. God bless Africa! Africans shall ALWAYS defeat those who seek to dominate them.’”
Earlier today, senior Ugandan officials including the Ambassador to United Nations, Adonia Ayebare, blasted Human Rights Watch boss Ken Roth for meddling in Uganda’s internal affairs.
Roth criticised the Electoral Commission for suspending campaigns in areas considered COVID-19 hotspots, saying it’s where Bobi is “popular”.

“Please stay out of Uganda electoral process and COVID UGANDA response, we don’t need your cynicism,” Amb Ayebare told Roth.
“Failing Human Rights Watch (HRW) is a haven of political activists bent on undermining and patronizing African democracies,” he added.
“Our elections is our business and we will be fine.”
Presidential press secretary, Don Wanyama also chipped in, saying, “the question of who’s popular where will be made known by Ugandans on January 14th not some deluded neo-colonial agent sitting in a Western metropolis. Respect our sovereignty.”
Bobi’s supporters have clashed with security forces since the beginning of the presidential campaigns in November, 2020.
Police accuse Bobi of flouting COVID-19 prevention guidelines by holding rallies while the presidential candidate says the law enforcement body is using excessive force to disperse his supporters.
EC Chairperson Justice Simon Byabakama said although several engagements have been made with opposition candidates, there has been no improvement as far as compliance with the SOPs are concerned.
Muhoozi also referred to the NRA victory against the military junta in 1985, saying the ‘colonialists’ faced defeat.
“0n the 14th of January 1985, the greatest heroes of the NRA sent the colonialist dominated UNLA a message from the bush! Afande Rwigyema and Afande Saleh sent this message to Col. Eric Odwar. ‘We are coming, surrender or be destroyed!’” said Muhoozi.
