Ministry of health has unveiled three water boat intensive care ambulances that will be deployed at different islands in Lake Victoria.
These state of the art ambulances the ministry says will be stationed at the Islands of Kalangala, Buvuma among others to ensure timely access to medical care.
“The ambulances will enable quick access to emergency medical services by patients and pregnant mothers in those areas,” said Dr Diana Atwine, the ministry permanent secretary.
In the same way, 2 type C road ambulances have also been procured.
These include inbuilt critical care equipment like ventilators, resuscitators and other features that can provide ICU support until the patients arrives at the hospital.
According to Dr Ruth Acheng, the state minister of health, this will greatly help in improving timely access to medical care for the population.
