NUP Presidential candidate Robert Kyagulanyi revealed that doctors are still battling to save the life of journalist Ashraf Kasirye, who suffered serious injuries on the head from an apparent explosive.
Kasirye who works with Radio One and the NUP leaning Ghetto Media was rushed to Masaka Hospital and later referred to Rubaga Hospital in Kampala during a clash between police and Bobi Wine Supporters on Sunday.
While Bobi Wine says the reporter was shot at close range with a rubber bullet, Police came out and clarified that he was hit by a teargas canister.
While providing an update on his condition today, Bobi Wine said Doctors had revealed that the reporter had his skull shuttered and his brain damaged.
“The doctors have told us that the object shuttered his skull, and broke it into many pieces,” Bobi Wine said.
“They said some of the skull bone pieces entered his exposed brain and he bled in the brain. We are thankful he is still alive and the doctors at Rubaga Hospital doctors are doing everything to save his life.
“They were able to remove the blood from the brain but they informed us that he may not be able to open his eyes or speak for weeks. He will also not be able to recognize people and speak words he understands for some time,” he added.
Bobi Wine described Kasirye, who for months has been by his side covering his campaign activities as an “innocent man trying to do his job”
Meanwhile during the press conference at the NUP offices in Kampala, Bobi Wine doubled down on claims that his security guard Frank Senteza was knocked dead by a Military truck.

At the time of the incident on Sunday in Busega, Bobi Wine’s team was rushing Kasirye to Hospital in Kampala
Police and the UPDF quickly came out to dismiss the reports saying Senteza in fact fell off a moving vehicle and landed badly.
However, Bobi Wine today dismissed the statement as shameful.
“Yesterday we showed you the ex-ray of the extent to the damage on his skull and neck which was broken in pieces. Yet painfully, when one of our comrades on security called Kawooya came out of the car to save (Senteza), the military police descended on him and beat him up. The footage of the military beating this 23-year-old with gun butts for trying to save a life is there.”
Police have since vowed to secure a court order to exhume the body of Senteza to establish the cause of death.
Police spokesman Fred Enanga said the task teams investigating the matter, faced a setback, after the victim was buried at the ancestral home along Villa road, in Kalungu District, without being examined on post mortem.
