Uganda Cranes goalkeeping coach Fred Kajoba is unbothered by his dismissal from Paradise hotel in Kisaasi on Friday after failing to observe the camp strict covid-19 SOPs.
The Vipers Sports Club tactician was expelled from the camp on grounds of his “unauthorized” departure to attend a Church service on Christmas day without the consent of Head coach Jonathan McKinstry.
Kajoba however insists that he sought permission from the Northern Irishman before leaving camp.
“I requested the coach and I was allowed to go to church and celebrate Christmas day but I’m fine with the dismissal. In fact, I’m happy that I was dismissed from the camp because I had gone to church but not any other place,” Kajoba told Sta Daily Media.
“It’s interesting how Mr McKinstry would find trouble in me going to the church when some other officials including himself have been on a regular basis going out of the camp. Can’t they too bring COVID-19 in the camp?” he questioned.
Kajoba alledges that McKinstry has not been residing inthe camp while other technical officials including the physical trainer and assistant coaches (Abdallah Mubiru and Livingston Mbabazi) have occasionally been granted permission to get out of the camp.
FUFA will follow Kajoba’s selective dismissal with the appointment of his replacement before the team sets off for Yaounde on Monday.
The Uganda Cranes are currently in a residential camp intensifying preparations for the forthcoming 2021 African Nations Championship (CHAN) due to take place in Cameroon from 16th January to 7th February 2021.
The team will however, depart on Monday 28th December for the pre-CHAN mini tournament that will serve as a pre-test for four Nations such as Niger, Zambia, Uganda and hosts Cameroon before the final championship.
