• Mawokota 2-0 Kyadondo
Mike Kintu starred with two goals as Mawokota pipped Kyadondo 2-0 to qualify for the quarter-finals of the 2020 Masaza Cup championship at the FUFA Technical Center, Njeru on Monday.
Kintu’s brace came through second half penalties following two consecutive fouls by Kyadondo’s clumsy defenders in a space of four minutes.
Having fired blanks in the first half, center referee Henry Musisi awarded Mawokota’s first penalty kick following a foul on Geofrey Oyaka by James Mubezi before Kintu stepped up and netted in the top corner after 69 minutes.
Four minutes later, onrushing Isaac Ofoyrwith was brought down by Kyadondo’s defender Jimmy Kiwanuka inside the area before Kintu slotted past goalkeeper Aristoti Muyindo.
Mawokota advanced for the quarter-finals with a hat-trick of victories after Masengere group games. They previously saw off Bugerere with a similar (2-0) win before overcoming Kooki 2-1 topping the group with maximum points (nine).
Mawokota was joined by Bugerere on the next round of the championship after the former drew 1-1 with Kooki to finish on four points earlier in the afternoon. Kyadondo came third on 3 points, two ahead of bottom placed Kooki (1 point).
After a successful wrap up of the third group, four teams including Gomba, Ssese, Kabula and Buddu will officially arrival for the final Muganzirwazza group on Tuesday before action resumes on Wednesday.
