• Express 1-0 Kyetume (Agg 3-2)
Second half substitute Frank Kalanda scored from the penalty mark as Express FC edged Kyetume 1-0 in the Stanbic Uganda Cup round of 32 return leg at the Mutesa II stadium in Wankulukuku.
Kyetume’s defender Felix Okot brought down versatile winger Martin Kizza in the box after 86 minutes for the center referee Rajab Bakasambe to award a spot kick to the Red Eagles.
The towering striker had replaced midfielder Muzamir Mutyaba at the start of the second half and his solo effort handed Express a 3-2 aggregate win. The reverse fixture at FUFA Technical Center ended 2-2 in Jinja.
“The most important thing is we managed to win and stay in the competition, the Uganda Cup only requires you to win, we managed the game well and managed to win, now our focus turns to the league. The Tuesday game is huge and we don’t take it for granted so our focus is to keep our momentum going by winning on against SC Villa),” Express coach Wasswa Bbosa said.
Both teams now shift focus to the Uganda Premier League, with Express visiting rivals Sports Club Villa and Kyetume traveling to Jinja BUL FC at Kakindu stadium next week.
