Celebrated songstress and Blu*3 member Jackie Chandiru believes the local music industry has lost its direction.
In an interview, Jackie Chandiru stresses how, due to the increased desire of younger people to go viral, the special ingredients of music have been lost.
“I don’t think we have any direction right now. I’m gonna be extremely honest on that, there’s no musical direction right now,” Chandiru said.
She added, “Someone says something, a word that goes viral, and the next day it is a song. There’s just no direction. Whoever wants will hit the studio and sing.”
She advises creatives to find their niche and concentrate on perfecting their skills there rather than venturing into music because they have a big following on different platforms.
If you’re a TikToker and good at skits, stick there. Perfect your skill with the skits. Don’t try to sing because you have the following. Sometimes it can work out, sometimes not, but don’t use your platform to destroy art or tarnish others.
