Welcome back from the weekend with Jajja. What does Sevo smell like?
I did not really capture that, but I do not think he wears any perfume. The only time I got close to him was during the photo session, but the air around him was okay.
After all the mental math you have already done, how much of the Shs5b is left?
I have not done any math because I have to receive it first before I can start calculating. You know the Baganda say, “Amaso go muganda gali mu ngalo.” So, I first have to receive the money. Five billion is a lot, but you could wait for it for an entire year, or two, or even five.
How many times have you been beaten for lugambo?
I have never been beaten for lugambo. Hehehe.
What is the most you have been paid to shut up?
Hahaha, I will skip this one.
Would you encourage your kids to be baby parrots (obusuku)?
Most definitely. If that is the way to go, then why not?
When did you last embarrass yourself… as in wasemba di okuswala?
Mukwano, eby’okuswala twabivako dda. That is something we left behind. The hustle is a bit different, my friend. We are living in times of survival for the fittest, so the goal is to survive. There is no time to be ashamed.
Does luseke money last?
If you plan well, it definitely lasts. Personally, I have assets I acquired from Luseke. For instance, our current studio came from a luseke deal with one of our bagaga, and he set up the entire studio. So, the issue is how you handle it.
Forget the recent Shs5b, what is the most luseke you have kukubad?
Haaa… a lot of money. At one point, nakubako oluseke lwa Shs50m, and another time Shs30m. It depends on how you package your idea. You need to approach someone with an idea. The real luseke is not just getting small amounts like 500K or Shs1m. It is going to someone with a big idea and getting serious money.
Do tables ever turn, and you are the mugaga?
Of course. I am a very generous person, and those around me have to benefit from what I have. On a good day, when I have some ka money, I make sure my people are taken care of.
So, do you also say you work hard, Mr Isaac Katende?
Most definitely. I wake up every day to produce my show. Don’t you watch me on YouTube? And by the way, that work brings me the most money. After becoming famous, you are bound to move into the “luseke” phase because there are people who will love what you do and reward you from time to time. That is hard work. You do something, people appreciate it, and they let you into their lives.
Naye, do you know Shs5b?
Hehehe, yes, I know Shs5b. But if you look at the people eyeing that money, it is actually very little. Unfortunately, many people commenting think tugenda kuzilya. No, siza kulya. People want to buy cameras, drones, software, and editing suites. They want to set up studios, and a good studio will set you back around Shs75m to Shs100m. Now equate that to how many content creators we have in this country. It is a lot of money, but based on how many have to share it, it is very little.
Now that you are ‘inside’, should we assume you are now a valid “Gamba nogu”?
I am not inside. I have just met the President twice, and fortunately, he was impressed with what I presented. So no, I am not a gamba nogu, and neither am I inside. I am as outside as you are.
On these very pages, Azawi mentioned that if you took her on a date, it would be at Yaya’s in Kyanja. Should we expect this date anytime soon?
No, it will not be happening anytime soon.
What is the biggest misconception people have about you?
People think sitegela. And that is where I have shocked many people. But ntegela.
You get caught by the traffic police at 3am. Between Ssendi and Shalom, whom are you trusting enough to rescue you?
Ssendi, definitely.
If YouTube suddenly banned gossip tomorrow, onalya wa?
We are not doing gossip. What I do is society and lifestyle conversations. Gossip comes in because I do a big morning talk show, and people love a little gossip here and there. But my channel has many segments and episodes that have nothing to do with gossip. So, I will still be eating. And even if we got banned, we would move to other podcast platforms and continue there.
Is Mutyaba even real? If so, describe his face for the Kampala girlies.
Yes, Mutyaba is real. I work with him. He is my camera guy. He films when we are in the field and also edits our episodes. He is a soft-spoken guy, his hair is well packed on his head. He is tall and a ‘silent burner’. Very nice, very patient, and he takes his time to analyse things. Let us just say he is the sober side of Kasuku. So, for the women who want him, you can try, but he is very picky about what he takes in.
