Ugandan singer Ronald Alimpa has denied allegations that he is battling drug abuse, insisting that the challenges he is currently facing stem from financial struggles rather than substance use.
Alimpa rose to fame a few years ago after releasing his breakthrough song Seen Don, which pushed him to the spotlight in Uganda’s music industry. He later gained more attention with songs such as Olusuku Lwa Cement.
However, his rising career suffered a major setback following a tragic road accident that left him injured and claimed the lives of some of his colleagues. Since then, the singer says life has not been the same.
Addressing the criticism surrounding his personal struggles, Alimpa said many people have misunderstood his situation and wrongly concluded that drugs are to blame.
The singer also opened up about the breakdown of his relationship with his former management team, revealing that mistrust and fear pushed him to walk away from them.
According to Alimpa, his managers had proposed taking him to rehabilitation and promised that his life would completely change after the program.
“They promised me a house, a car, a studio and security guards once I go to rehab,” he said.
Instead of feeling reassured, Alimpa says the promises made him suspicious and uncomfortable.
“I feared that they probably wanted to kill me,” he added.
The singer further revealed that the idea of rehabilitation now frightens him because he worries he could be taken there under the guise of treatment and return as someone completely different.
“I don’t even like hearing anything about rehab. I fear that they may take me there pretending to heal me and I come out a different creature,” he said.
His remarks highlight the deep mistrust that developed between him and his former management team, a fallout he says was fueled by fear and miscommunication.
Alimpa has previously faced public scrutiny over his health and personal struggles, with many fans urging him to seek professional help. However, his latest comments suggest that rehabilitation, which many view as a path to recovery, has instead become a source of anxiety for the singer.
