Spice Diana has opened up about the time when she nearly gave up on her music career after her car was stolen while she was still a university student.
Spice Diana revealed that the incident happened when she was in her third year at Makerere University. At the time, she was juggling her studies with her growing music career and had been saving money to shoot a music video.
However, things took a painful turn when the car she had acquired on partial payment was stolen, along with the little money she had.
There was a time my car was stolen. I had my savings and was going to shoot a video. They took my car and the small money I had. I had borrowed that car pending some balance and when that happened, I hated my life.
She explained that the situation became even more difficult because she depended on the car for her daily movements. She was living in Makindye and had to travel every day to attend lectures at Makerere University while also moving around for performances.
Without the car, balancing school and music became almost impossible.
Spice Diana said she decided to use the little money she had saved from her December holiday performances to look for another car so she could keep going.
I had like 1.5 million. It’s not enough to buy a car, so I went to a certain bond and found a car that was 5 million. I gave them the 1.5 million and I was left with nothing.
But the struggle did not end there. When she returned to pick up the vehicle, she was told to bring more money, which left her stranded again.
On reaching to go pick it, they instead told me to bring more money. I started claiming for the money I had paid and they chopped some of it.
The ordeal left the singer deeply frustrated and emotionally drained, to the point where she considered walking away from music altogether.
I hated myself at that time and wanted to quit my music career.
