Ugandan musician David Lutalo has dismissed criticism surrounding his recent TikTok Live session, where he shared a contact number for bookings.
The move sparked online debate, with some social media users questioning why an established artist would publicly give out such details, arguing it could reflect poorly on his brand.
But Lutalo sees it differently.
Speaking in an interview on Cruz Xclusive with Allan Cruz, the singer said there is nothing unusual about what he did, noting that artists have always promoted their booking contacts—even before social media became dominant.
According to him, the only thing that has changed is the platform.
He also pointed out a more pressing concern: fraud. Lutalo revealed that several individuals have been impersonating him and misleading potential clients with fake contact information.
To counter this, he says he makes a deliberate effort to repeatedly share the official booking number so fans and promoters are not duped.
The singer clarified that the number he mentioned during the live session belongs to his manager, not his personal line, and was only shared after a viewer asked how to book him.
He maintained that he simply responded to a legitimate request and sees nothing wrong with making the correct contact publicly available.
For Lutalo, the issue is less about perception and more about transparency—ensuring that anyone looking to work with him has access to verified information in an industry increasingly affected by impersonation.
