Dancehall singer Kapeke has apologized to fans after abruptly ending his performance at the popular Roast and Rhyme festival on Sunday.
Kapeke, whose real name is Derrick Nsubuga, was among the most anticipated performers of the evening and had just stepped onto the stage to an excited crowd when the incident occurred.
However, while performing his hit song Kaba, the singer was forced to cut his set short following a sound glitch, reportedly linked to the deejay.
In a move that left revelers puzzled, Kapeke walked off stage alongside his dancers, management team, and security, bringing his performance to an unexpected end.
The incident quickly sparked debate online, with some critics arguing that the singer should have handled the situation differently and continued performing despite the technical challenges.
Others, however, defended him, noting that poor sound quality can significantly affect an artist’s performance and overall delivery.
Taking to TikTok on Monday morning, Kapeke issued a brief apology to his fans.
“Sorry, my people, for not performing to your expectations because of bad sound. Next time, better,” he said. He attributed the incident to technical issues and promised to deliver a better experience in future performances.
