Judge Judy is stepping away from the television courtroom after nearly 30 years, and she is handing the gavel to her son, Adam Levy.
Judith Sheindlin‘s final season of “Judy Justice” is underway, marking the end of a television career that began with “Judge Judy” in 1996.
Now, her son is taking over the family courtroom legacy with “Adam’s Law,” which premiered on CBS Media Ventures on September 14.
Levy, a former district attorney and judge on “Tribunal Justice,” brings 25 years of legal experience to the new show. His mother is also one of its executive producers.
Sheindlin, 83, says she feels ready to leave the camera behind after decades in the spotlight.
I do not have to prove anything else. I did it.
“Judy Justice” will air its final episode on October 22.
With her courtroom TV run coming to an end, Sheindlin plans to spend more time with her family while working on other projects, including the animated “Judyverse.”
