Media personality Sheila Gashumba has criticised the growing trend of celebrity boxing matches, questioning whether participants are adequately prepared to take part in a sport that demands both physical and mental fitness.
In a post shared on her social media platforms, Sheila expressed concern that organisers and audiences may be waiting for a serious incident before recognising the risks associated with the fights.
“Can someone ban these unprofessional boxing matches!! Y’all are waiting for something to happen one day to one of these ‘public figures’ for you to understand that it’s not right! People must be physically and mentally fit for such a sport!” she wrote.

Her comments came shortly after singer Prima Kadarsih was declared the winner in a celebrity boxing bout against media personality Zahara Totto over the weekend.
The match is part of a growing entertainment trend that has seen public figures step into the ring, attracting audiences who are drawn as much by the personalities involved as the fights themselves.
In recent years, celebrities including Rickman, Shakib Cham, JK Kazoora, Dr Cephco and Grenade have participated in similar boxing events.
While the matches have gained popularity as entertainment spectacles, Sheila’s remarks have reignited questions about the level of training, preparation and safety measures involved when celebrities take up the sport.
Her concern centres on the possibility that the popularity of such events could overshadow the physical demands and potential dangers of boxing.
