FORT PORTAL — The coronation of Prince Edward Rukidi Nyabongo I as the new Omukama of Tooro is set to take place on September 29, 2026, Omujwera Musuuga Charles Kamurasi has confirmed.
The announcement sets the date for the formal enthronement of Prince Edward following the death of his predecessor, Omukama Oyo Nyimba Kabamba Iguru Rukidi IV, who passed away earlier this month at the age of 34.

The coronation will mark a significant moment in the history of the kingdom as the young prince assumes the mantle of leadership and becomes the next Omukama of Tooro.
The development comes barely weeks after the kingdom and the Batooro community were plunged into mourning following the death of King Oyo, who had reigned for more than three decades after ascending the throne as a young child in 1995.
Prince Edward Rukidi Nyabongo I now faces the responsibility of carrying forward the institution of the Tooro Kingdom while building on the legacy of his late predecessor.
