Jay-Z Says Watching His New Documentary With Beyoncé and Their Kids Will Be “Cringe”

Jay-Z is ready for his family to see a side of him they may not have seen before, and he already knows some of it could get awkward.

The American rapper and businessman admitted that it will be “cringe” watching his new HBO docuseries, “JAŸ-Z in 8,” with his wife Beyoncé and their three children.

He opened up about the experience during the documentary’s world premiere in New York on September 13.

They know these things. We talk all the time. It will be fascinating to see on a big screen and at times, I know it will be, like, cringe.

The 56-year-old rapper said the discomfort comes from putting himself out there so openly.

When you put yourself out there like that, you get embarrassed but it is honest, and it is a beautiful piece.

“JAŸ-Z in 8” features Jay-Z sitting down with music producer Rick Rubin to revisit his career, lyrics, and creative process.

The eight-part series premieres September 18 on HBO, with two episodes dropping on the opening night before new episodes arrive weekly.

For Jay-Z, the biggest audience may not be the public. It may be Beyoncé and the kids sitting on the couch watching him tell his own story.
