Tyler Perry has spent years building a Hollywood empire. Now, he wants to spend more time enjoying life away from the spotlight.
The American filmmaker and actor has announced plans to move to Puerto Rico in early 2027 with his 11-year-old son, Aman.
Perry revealed the news during a recent “Today with Jenna & Sheinelle” interview while discussing whether he ever plans to slow down his career.
His answer was clear.
Yep, moving to Puerto Rico at the top of the year, and I’m pulling back a whole lot.
Perry explained that his age and his relationship with his son have made him rethink the way he spends his time.
It is time to slow down a bit, enjoy more time with my son and just take it all in.
The 57-year-old shares Aman with his former partner Gelila Bekele, and the two dated from 2009 to 2020.
Perry has no plans to walk away from entertainment altogether. His comments point instead to a slower pace and fewer professional demands as he makes more room for fatherhood.
The timing comes after the release of “Why Did I Get Married Again?”, the third film in his “Why Did I Get Married?” franchise.
After years of making Hollywood move at his pace, Perry now seems ready to move at his own.
