Lil Durk is talking about growth and second chances after his murder-for-hire acquittal, telling young people they do not have to let their surroundings determine who they become.
Durk returned to social media on September 14 with a message aimed directly at the youth, reflecting on his own struggles and promising to use his platform to help the next generation.
There were times in my life when I felt lost and could not see beyond what was right in front of me.
The Chicago rapper acknowledged that a person’s environment can shape their thinking and decisions, but said those circumstances do not have to dictate their future.
Growth is real, and it is never too late to choose a different direction.
Durk also said he wants to turn his platform into something that creates opportunities for young people.
My responsibility is to use my voice and my platform to build, motivate, and create more opportunities for the next generation.
He ended with a simple message: “Choose your future. Choose your family. Choose growth.”
The post comes just days after a federal jury acquitted Durk of all charges in his murder-for-hire case tied to the 2022 shooting of Quando Rondo’s cousin, Saviay’a Robinson.
Prosecutors had accused Durk of orchestrating the attack as revenge for the 2020 killing of his friend King Von. Durk has maintained his innocence.
But the acquittal did not get Durk out of jail.
He remains in federal custody while awaiting a separate trial on racketeering and weapons charges, which is scheduled for October 5.
For now, Durk says he wants to use his voice to encourage young people to choose growth and move forward with purpose.
