Happy International Women’s Day. And in honour of this day, we celebrate and recognize those Ugandan female artists who are not only winning with their music, but also serving us looks while at it. These artists make a bold impression in every room they set foot in, turning every appearance into a fashion moment and demonstrating that music and personal style can and should go hand in hand.
From their concert-day customized looks to effortless off-duty styles, these women know how to hold attention. Here is a closer look at some of the Ugandan female artists whose fashion choices keep fans watching just as closely as their music.

Pia Pounds
For many of us, our first introduction to Pia was through her fashion. Before we could even name 5 of her songs, we were already obsessing over her Instagram for always serving bold, confident and very fashion-forward looks. Her style leans into bold silhouettes, fitted pieces, and statement outfits that highlight her stage presence. Whether it is a daring mini dress, edgy leather pieces, or colourful two-piece sets, Pia never shies away from taking risks.
What stands out about her style is how playful it is. She embraces trends but still makes them her own, often pairing bold outfits with avant-garde detailing, often customised by Ugandan designers. Even her casual looks feel intentional. She has mastered the art of looking glamorous without appearing overworked, which keeps her fashion fresh and youthful. So before you head over to Pinterest for some inspiration, maybe you should first do a quick scroll through this Ugandan artist’s Instagram feed!

Sheebah Karungi
Our self-proclaimed “Beyonce” might still have a long way to go before she can match up to Ms Knowles’ musical prowess, but she definitely is living up to the comparison when it comes to her fashion. Sheebah Karungi has mastered the art of keeping us glued and always guessing when it comes to her fashion, especially her on-stage looks. Her stage looks are usually dramatic and commanding; think high boots, metallic fabrics, floor-length faux fur coats, lots of colour, dramatic cuts, and outfits designed to move with her energetic performances. Off stage, she shifts easily into polished chic looks, often stepping out in tailored pieces or street style looks.
What makes Sheebah’s fashion choices stand out is confidence. She wears everything with intention, and that attitude often becomes the most memorable part of the outfit. She understands that for an energetic performance like hers, the outfit definitely has to match that!

Irene Ntale
Irene Ntale’s fashion choices are rather calm, confident, and often times lean towards a soft, clean silhouette. So, she will often be seen in flowing dresses, well-fitted jumpsuits, soft fabrics, and delicate details, that also endeavors to accessorize well.
Whether she is on stage or attending an event, Irene often opts for silhouettes that highlight grace rather than drama. Possibly to match the music, her fashion choices are calm enough to allow you to get lost in the music, but also memorable enough to have you recreating some of them.

Irene Namubiru
We love a timeless look, and that is what you will get with Irene Namubiru’s fashion choices. Oftentimes, whether she is performing, making a public appearance or simply serving up a look for the gram, her fashion choices are always refined, polished, and effortlessly mature. She gravitates toward well-tailored gowns, structured dresses, and sophisticated silhouettes that highlight her poise both on and off stage.
The one thing you are sure to get when it comes to Irene’s fashion is consistency. Rather than chase the trends, she leans into classic pieces that are probably going to end up on your inspiration board, 5 years from now.
Off stage, her look softens into relaxed but still elegant outfits, often styled with simple accessories and clean lines. It is the kind of style that feels intentional without trying too hard.

Vinka
Just like with her music, Vinka brings a youthful, energetic edge to fashion. Her style is vibrant, intentional and full of personality. She is not afraid of colour, bold prints, or experimental silhouettes.
On stage, Vinka’s outfits are often designed to match her energetic performances. You will see bright colours, statement boots, and sporty pieces that allow movement. It is her wedding performance customized gowns, though, that we can’t get enough of. We do love someone who respects a dress code, and with Vinka, you can be sure she will be giving the bride a run for her money with her gowns. Off stage, she leans toward relaxed but stylish streetwear-inspired looks.

Azawi
Maybe it is intended to match her sound, which is also unique, but when it comes to her fashion, the distinctiveness is right there. Azawi has carved out one of the most distinct style identities among Ugandan artists today. Her look infuses Afrocentric pieces with modern details, often resulting in striking and memorable outfits. And her fashion choices did take some getting used to by a lot of her fans. But then again, isn’t that what fashion is supposed to be? It should not only portray your personality, but isn’t also supposed to be understood by everyone.
She experiments with structured silhouettes, unique textures, and statement accessories. There is also a strong artistic element in her fashion choices, with a lot of her looks feeling like visual storytelling.
What makes Azawi’s style different is how intentional it feels. Each outfit seems carefully chosen to represent her identity and creative vision.

Spice Diana
Just like with Vinka, Spice Diana brings a youthful, vibrant, very trend-driven fashion element with her music. From head to toe, all burgundy looks, playful colourful boots, matching sets, you can be sure you will be getting a fun look from Ms Namukwaya. What we love about Spice’s fashion is how nothing is ever out of place. From the well-laid hair, perfect makeup, and also a matching curated content to match, she is always camera-ready.
She does love to follow a good trend and will add her own personal touch to it, making it her own.

Gabbie Ntaate
When you think of elegant, poised fashion, you think of Gospel singer Gabbie Ntaate. Possibly because of her genre of music, Ntaate leans more towards modest fashion choices, but still finds a way to make it fun and not boring at all. From prints, midi style dresses or even her accessories like hats, she always looks very polished, without leaning towards any particular trend. Her fashion choices are intentional, purposed to highlight her calm personality. So, in the long run, a lot of her looks reflect who she is, without feeling forced, making her relatable.
These Ugandan female artists continue to influence more than just our playlists. Through fashion, they are shaping trends and showing us that one’s style can and should be part of the brands that they are building.
