    Miles Rwamiti has given legendary singer Mesach Semakula his flowers, describing him as one of Uganda’s most loved artists.

    The media personality made the remarks during an appearance on Vvaawo Mpitewo Sabula, where he praised Mesach’s ability to connect with music lovers across generations.

    According to Rwamiti, Mesach’s fan base stretches far beyond one age group.

    He said the singer attracts listeners in their 20s and 30s, as well as those in their 40s, 50s and 60s, a level of appeal he believes few artists can match.

    Rwamiti also credited Mesach’s longevity to his catalogue of timeless songs, which have helped him maintain a strong connection with audiences over the years.

    And when it comes to live performances, Rwamiti believes Mesach is in a league of his own.

    He praised the veteran singer’s energy on stage, saying Mesach can perform up to 100 songs without running out of steam.

    Jacob shared the story while reacting to the situation surrounding the late Ugandan playwright Alex Mukulu‘s Shs400 million debt and the calls by his wife, Christine Seremba Mukulu, to protect his property.

    Having faced a similar fear himself, Jacob says Christine has every right to fight for the property.

    He believes her efforts should be respected, regardless of whether she and Alex Mukulu had children together.

    John Segawa blames Chameleone for son Abba Marcus’ troubles – Sqoop

    Actor and filmmaker John Segawa has sparked debate over the recent troubles involving Jose Chameleone’s son, Abba Marcus Mayanja, arguing that the singer should take responsibility for the foundation laid during his son’s formative years.

    Speaking in a recent YouTube interview, Segawa questioned why blame should be placed on the United States, where Abba has lived for only about four years.

    “We should blame Chameleone for Abba’s misfortunes. He went to America when he was 17 years. There is no way you can blame him for just the four years he has been there. The person to blame is Joseph,” Segawa said.

    His remarks follow Abba’s recent arrest in Minnesota over allegations of domestic assault involving his pregnant partner. The case is before the courts, and Abba remains presumed innocent unless proven guilty.

    Segawa argued that Abba spent the first 17 years of his life in Uganda, where he was raised under the influence of his family, and therefore believes his upbringing should also be part of the conversation surrounding his current challenges.

    At 20, Abba is legally responsible for his own actions, but Segawa’s comments have revived a wider debate about how much responsibility parents should bear for the choices made by their adult children.

    Chameleone, whose real name is Joseph Mayanja, has previously faced public scrutiny over his parenting, with some family matters involving his children playing out publicly.

    However, the debate also raises another question: where does parental responsibility end and an adult child’s personal accountability begin?

    For Segawa, the circumstances surrounding Abba’s upbringing cannot simply be separated from the difficulties he is facing today.

    Her verdict did not stop there.

    Gloria claimed Panda does not really sing, but simply talks in his songs, adding that she would gladly give him singing lessons.

    That means Panda should not expect a collaboration anytime soon.

    Gloria says he needs to learn how to sing first, while she focuses on her own busy schedule.

    She also suggested that Panda may be trying to gain sympathy by publicly pushing for the collaboration.

  • Police issues new guidelines for national cleaning day; here are the categories of people exempted from cleaning

    The Uganda Police Force has issued new guidelines ahead of the National Cleaning Day scheduled for Saturday, 29 August 2026, urging members of the public to take part in cleaning their homes, neighbourhoods, workplaces and public spaces.

    The nationwide exercise is intended to promote cleaner, healthier and safer communities.

    As part of the exercise, the movement of vehicles, motorcycles, bicycles and vessels will be restricted across the country between 7:00 a.m. and 10:00 a.m. on Saturday.

    Police has advised members of the public to remain within their respective localities during the restricted period and participate in the cleaning exercise. Normal movement will resume after 10:00 a.m.

    However, Police said some categories of people will be allowed to travel during the three-hour restriction.

    Patients travelling for scheduled medical treatment will be permitted to move, provided they have relevant medical documentation. Emergency service vehicles will also be allowed to operate.

    Medical personnel who are on duty will be permitted to travel if they have valid identification. Security personnel and private security guards on duty are also exempted from the restriction.

    Cross-border vehicles using designated major transport corridors will be allowed to continue operating. People travelling abroad will also be permitted to travel if they can provide proof of their journey.

    Foreign tourists are among those exempted from the movement restrictions, while journalists on official duty will also be allowed to travel.

    Police has urged the public to cooperate with security personnel who will be deployed to enforce the guidelines and warned against confrontations or altercations during the exercise.

    The public has been encouraged to plan their movements accordingly and use the three-hour period to participate in the National Cleaning Day activities within their communities.

    The jerseys are out, the WhatsApp groups are noisy again and, after a weekend of Premier League action, Ugandan football fans already have enough ammunition to tease their friends.

    Matchday One of the 2026/27 Premier League season started on Friday last week and comes to an end tonight when Chelsea travel to Fulham. In between, there has been plenty to talk about, from Manchester United’s surprise 2-0 defeat to newly promoted Hull City to Tottenham’s 3-0 loss at Brentford, Liverpool’s dramatic draw with Newcastle and Manchester City’s late win over Bournemouth.

    For Ugandan fans, every result comes with its own story.

    A Manchester United fan has probably spent the weekend defending that Hull result. Arsenal supporters have had a little more confidence after their winning start, while Liverpool and Newcastle fans still have that late drama to argue about. And somewhere, a Chelsea supporter is probably being reminded that their team still has a game to play.

    That is what the return of the Premier League means in Uganda.

    The football is back, but so is everything that comes with it: club jerseys, viewing spots, online banter, team analysis, predictions, and the overall football conversations that continue long after the final whistle.

    For some fans, the Premier League is a weekend routine. For others, it is the reason to meet friends, find a good place to watch the game and spend a few hours enjoying the action together.

    That is the Ugandan way of experiencing the Premier League, and it is the kind of matchday spirit Guinness, the Official Beer of the Premier League, is once again bringing to life through its Matchday experiences.

    During the opening weekend, Guinness took the celebrations to different venues across the country, giving fans more than just a place to watch the games.

    Among the biggest were at Millennium Grounds in Lugogo, Kampala, and Rwenzori Square in Kasese, where live entertainment, music and fan engagement added to the excitement around the fixtures.

    “We know how passionate Ugandan fans are about the Premier League. You see it in how they show up for Matchdays in their team colours, the banter and the way people plan their weekends around the big games. With our Matchday experiences, we want to add to that, bringing fans together with the football, entertainment and the atmosphere that makes a good game even better,” said Denise Nazzinda, Guinness Brand Manager at Uganda Breweries Ltd.

    That is what Guinness means by making Matchday EXTRA. It is about adding to the occasion around the football and creating moments that fans can enjoy together.

    The opening round has already provided plenty of that.

    For Guinness, it also fits naturally with its “Lovely Day for a Guinness” platform. Sometimes it is the big game that brings people together. Sometimes it is simply a weekend with friends, good football and a reason to make more of the day.

    Tonight, Fulham and Chelsea will bring the four-day opening Matchday to a close. Whatever the result, the banter will continue and the jerseys will not be going back into the wardrobe just yet.

    There are still 37 Matchdays to come, with bigger fixtures, fiercer rivalries and plenty more opportunities for Ugandan fans to gather and enjoy the their favorite league.

    Throughout the season, Guinness will continue taking its Matchday activations to different outlets and parts of the country.

    Police Arrest Woman Linked to TikToker Jovia Murder

    Police have arrested Rose Turindamukama, the woman who was staying with 22-year-old TikToker Jovia Namuwulya before she was found murdered in Bukoto last week.

    Turindamukama was reportedly tracked down and arrested by police detectives on Monday afternoon after investigators launched a search for her following Namuwulya’s death.

    A video circulating online shows detectives questioning Turindamukama inside a house where she was reportedly found.

    According to reports, Turindamukama allegedly left the scene after Namuwulya’s death and went to the home of a foreign national described as her boyfriend, where she reportedly hid.

    The man is said to have consulted his lawyers before contacting authorities, who subsequently arrested Turindamukama.

    During questioning, Turindamukama reportedly told detectives that Namuwulya was killed by a man identified as Muhammad, whom the two women had allegedly met hours before the incident.

    However, police had not officially confirmed this account or publicly identified Muhammad as a suspect by the time of publication.

    Namuwulya, who was also known on TikTok as Jovia1235, was found dead in a pool of blood inside her rented room in Mukalazi Zone, Bukoto I Parish, Nakawa Division, on August 20.

    Police previously said Namuwulya’s relatives raised the alarm after she stopped answering their calls. The caretaker and her sister went to the room and noticed bloodstains through a window before accessing the premises and discovering her body.

    Her body was subsequently taken to City Mortuary for a postmortem examination.

    Kampala Metropolitan Police spokesperson Racheal Kawala had earlier identified Turindamukama as a person of interest after she could not be traced following the discovery of Namuwulya’s body.

    Police said the two women had been living together for several months before the killing.

    With Turindamukama now in custody, investigators are expected to establish what happened in the hours leading to Namuwulya’s death and determine whether other people were involved.

    Investigations into the murder remain ongoing, and the allegations against Turindamukama have not been proven in court.
