  • Lutty Neika Recalls the Terrifying Moment He Faced a Real Anaconda During Video Shoot

Lutty Neika Recalls the Terrifying Moment He Faced a Real Anaconda During Video Shoot

Lutty Neika has revealed that filming the music video for his song “Anaconda” became one of the most nerve-racking experiences of his career after the production team used a real anaconda instead of a prop.

Appearing on Next Radio, the singer said he only realized what awaited him moments before filming began, when the producer informed the cast that the snake featured in the video was real.

The producer told us before the shoot that it would not be a dummy snake. It was going to be a real anaconda.

The announcement immediately caught Lutty Neika off guard.

Uncomfortable with the idea of sharing the set with a live snake, he asked whether the reptile would be filmed separately and edited into the final video instead of appearing alongside the cast.

I asked whether it would be in the video with us or just shot separately, and he said it had to be there to make the video impactful.

That expectation did not last long.

Lutty Neika said the producer initially assured everyone that the snake would remain away from the cast and that cutaway shots would create the illusion of close interaction.

As filming progressed, however, the plan gradually changed until everyone found themselves standing beside the anaconda, with some scenes even requiring them to touch it.

He lied to us that the snake would not be where we were and that they would use cutaway shots. But while shooting, he kept improvising until we all had to touch it or stand close to it.

The atmosphere on set quickly became even more tense as one of the video vixens struggled to cope with the experience, breaking down in tears whenever she had to move closer to the snake.

The video vixen cried so much every time she got close to it.

Just as the cast began settling into the shoot, another unexpected challenge emerged.

A rabbit brought onto the set immediately caught the anaconda’s attention, making the snake restless and forcing the production team to rethink how they would complete the remaining scenes.

We also had a rabbit on set, and it caused problems because the snake stopped being calm and wanted to catch the rabbit.

Rather than risk further disruption, the crew filmed every remaining scene involving the anaconda before removing it from the set, allowing the rest of the shoot to continue under much calmer conditions.

Diddy Sells $55 Million Miami Mansion While Doing Time

Sean “Diddy” Combs has cashed in one of his Miami mansions, selling the luxury Star Island property for $55 million while serving a 50-month federal prison sentence.

The six-bedroom waterfront estate sits next to another mansion that thrust Combs into the spotlight in March 2024, when federal agents searched the property during a sweeping criminal investigation.

Months later, prosecutors brought several federal charges against the Bad Boy Records founder.

A jury ultimately convicted Combs on two counts of transportation to engage in prostitution under the Mann Act but cleared him of sex trafficking and racketeering conspiracy charges.

Property records show the Star Island mansion changed hands in an off-market deal, marking one of the biggest real estate transactions involving the music mogul since his conviction.

Despite selling one of his Miami homes, Combs still owns the neighbouring Star Island property that investigators searched during the federal probe.

Fik Fameica Reveals Why Brands Choose Some Musicians Over Others

Fresh from signing on as Spiro Uganda‘s newest brand ambassador, Fik Fameica has encouraged fellow musicians to start treating themselves like brands instead of focusing solely on making hit songs.

According to the rapper, artists who invest in their image, professionalism, and reputation stand a much better chance of attracting corporate partnerships that can outlast their music careers.

    Fik Fameica brands

Musicians need to invest in themselves because they are brands. When you build your brand, companies notice you, want to work with you and bring you on board. That is what has happened to me. I am a brand, and that is why brands choose to work with me. Your brand is your identity.

He added that credibility has become just as important as popularity, with companies increasingly seeking artists whose values and influence align with their brands.

That thinking mirrors Spiro Uganda’s decision to partner with Fik Fameica, with the company citing his resilience, ambition, hard work, authenticity, and strong connection with Ugandans as the qualities that make him a natural fit.

  • Makerere Promotes And Hires 153 Academic Staff

Makerere Promotes And Hires 153 Academic Staff

Makerere University has released a summary of staff promotions and new recruitments carried out between July 2025 and now, showing a total of 153 academic staff movements, combining both promotions within the academic ranks and fresh academic hires, as the university continues building out its workforce under its current Strategic Plan.

According to the university, its Appointments Board has, over the past year, collectively approved multiple appointments spanning academic leadership positions, fresh academic hires, and a wide range of administrative and support staff roles, including several senior academic leadership positions such as Deans and Heads of Department.

The university describes its approach as merit-based, aimed at filling critical staffing gaps while investing in both academic excellence and efficient service delivery. Makerere says it remains committed to building an environment that attracts, develops, and retains top talent, while also managing ongoing staffing challenges arising from retirements, resignations, and other specialised needs through targeted recruitment, contract appointments, post-retirement contracts for professors, and staff development programmes.

Of the 81 total promotions recorded in the period, 16 were non-academic staff promotions, while 65 were academic promotions, broken down as follows:

    • Assistant Lecturer to Lecturer: 16
    • Lecturer to Senior Lecturer: 16
    • Senior Lecturer to Associate Professor: 25
    • Associate Professor to Professor: 8

The university also brought on 240 new staff members in the same period, split between:

    • Academic hires: 88 (62 Assistant Lecturers and 26 Lecturers)
    • Non-academic hires: 152

Taken together, the 65 academic promotions and 88 new academic hires bring the total number of academic staff who either moved up the ranks or joined the university afresh to 153, a figure that points to significant movement within Makerere’s academic workforce over the past year, particularly at the Senior Lecturer to Associate Professor level, which recorded the highest number of promotions.

The broader numbers, 81 total promotions and 240 new hires, reflect the scale of staffing activity across both academic and non-academic functions as the university works to address gaps left by retirements and resignations while expanding its capacity to deliver on its strategic priorities.

  • Why MPs queried post-construction approval of Ham Shopping Centre

Why MPs queried post-construction approval of Ham Shopping Centre

The Parliamentary Committee on Physical Infrastructure has questioned the Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA) over the post-construction approval of Ham Shopping centre owned by businessman, Hamis Kiggundu on the Nakivubo Channel, raising concerns about compliance with planning and environmental regulations.

The matter arose on Wednesday, 15 July 2026 when KCCA Deputy Executive Director, Benon Kigenyi appeared before the committee chaired by Hon. Mwine Mpaka to brief members on the city’s preparedness for the forthcoming rainy season and measures to mitigate flooding in Kampala.

During the meeting, MPs sought an explanation on whether the concrete structures built over the Nakivubo Channel had been lawfully approved.

Kasilo County Member of Parliament, Hon. Peter Paul Emaju asked whether KCCA had authorised the construction of the malls and shops on the drainage channel which carries storm water from parts of Kampala into the Nakivubo drainage system.

Kigenyi told the committee that while the structures, ‘now have an approved plan’, the approval was granted after construction, under what he described as an “as-built” approval process.
He explained that KCCA had initially halted the development but later processed the plans because the structures had already been erected.
“It was an immature development. As regulators, we had to come in but the law allows us to approve what is already there through the as-built process,” Kigenyi said.

His explanation prompted further questions from committee members on whether KCCA had guided the development from the outset.

Committee Chairperson Hon. Mwine Mpaka noted that although cities around the world have developments near waterways, such projects must be undertaken within established planning and engineering guidelines.

MPs also asked whether KCCA had faced external pressure that may have influenced its enforcement decisions. Kigenyi denied this, maintaining that the authority had acted independently.

Mpaka observed that while the committee was aware of a presidential letter supporting the project, such communication did not override the law.
“A presidential letter is not law. It is an instruction that must be implemented within the confines of the law,” he said.

The committee directed KCCA to submit more than 15 documents related to drainage planning, flood management and the project. These include the Kampala Drainage Master Plan, engineering drawings, enforcement notices, the complete project file for Ham Shopping Grounds and a list of illegal developments along the drainage channels.
The others are, hydrological data on drainage capacity, cost-benefit analyses, files relating to Forest Mall in Lugogo and details of project-affected persons and compensation paid.

Meanwhile, KCCA attributed the recurring flooding at St. Balikuddembe Market (Owino) and other parts of Kampala to encroachment on drainage channels, unauthorised construction and blocked drainage systems.

Kigenyi told the committee that more than 90 per cent of the 295-metre Nakivubo drainage channel has been encroached upon, significantly reducing its capacity to carry storm water and increasing the risk of flooding.

Mpaka emphasised the need for KCCA to strengthen its flood preparedness ahead of the rainy season, particularly in flood-prone areas including St Balikuddembe Market, the Nakivubo Channel, the Nateete–Busega corridor, Kinawataka, Kalerwe and Bwaise.

The KCCA team is expected to return on 31 July 2026 with the Minister in for Kampala before the committee.
