Did Zari Get a Facelift? Ugandans Debate Socialite’s New Look

Zari Hassan‘s latest appearance has set social media buzzing, with Ugandans split over what they believe has changed about her face.

The businesswoman and reality tv star is currently in Uganda spending time with family and friends, but much of the online conversation has shifted away from her visit and onto her appearance.

Photos and videos from her trip have sparked a wave of speculation, with some social media users suggesting she may have undergone a facelift, while others insist makeup, lighting, camera angles, or even a different hairstyle could easily explain the change.

The debate has spread across X, TikTok, Facebook, and Instagram, where bloggers and fans continue comparing recent photos with older ones.

    One X user, @MrsBluey6, wrote:

Having so much money sometimes is bad because what kind of facelift is this?

    Another, @Acholi_goddd, added:

    She underwent a facelift.

A third user, @BlackQuinn, questioned the change altogether.

Who gave Zari the idea of changing her face like this?

The conversation has been just as lively on TikTok, where one video comparing Zari’s appearance has circulated widely after attracting thousands of reactions.

Others, however, have urged caution, arguing that social media images can be misleading and that there is no evidence Zari has undergone any cosmetic procedure.

Zari has not addressed the speculation, leaving the online debate to continue without any confirmation from the socialite herself.

  • Disney’s Live-Action Formula Faces New Questions After ‘Moana’ Box Office Disappointment

Disney’s Live-Action Formula Faces New Questions After ‘Moana’ Box Office Disappointment

Disney’s long-running strategy of turning its animated classics into live-action blockbusters is facing renewed scrutiny after Moana opened below expectations at the global box office.

The live-action remake debuted with $43 million in North America and $95 million worldwide, topping the weekend box office but falling short of expectations for a film reportedly made on a production budget of around $250 million.

The performance has prompted fresh debate over whether Disney’s remake formula is beginning to lose momentum.

For more than a decade, the studio enjoyed enormous success by reimagining animated classics such as Beauty and the Beast, Aladdin, The Lion King and, more recently, Lilo & Stitch.

However, recent remakes including Snow White and now Moana have struggled to match the commercial heights of their predecessors.

Industry analysts point to several possible reasons behind Moana‘s softer opening. Unlike many earlier remakes, the original 2016 animated film remains one of Disney+’s most-streamed titles, while Moana 2 crossed the $1 billion mark worldwide less than two years ago.

Some believe audiences simply felt the story was still too recent to warrant another version.

Competition also played a role. Moana entered cinemas alongside family titles including Toy Story 5 and Minions & Monsters, while major sporting events such as the FIFA World Cup also competed for viewers’ attention.

Despite the underwhelming opening, audience reactions have been considerably stronger than critics’ reviews. The film earned an A- CinemaScore and a 90% audience score on Rotten Tomatoes, suggesting positive word of mouth could help its performance in the coming weeks.

The bigger question now is what comes next for Disney.

The studio still has several live-action projects in development, but Moana‘s early performance has intensified discussions about whether audiences want faithful remakes of relatively recent animated hits or are looking for something new from one of Hollywood’s biggest studios.

  • No Minister Gets the Amount of Money I Earn Every Month, Muganga Says

No Minister Gets the Amount of Money I Earn Every Month, Muganga Says

Many expected Dr. Lawrence Muganga to dwell on his failed ministerial appointment.

He says he has already moved on.

The Victoria University Vice Chancellor insists the rejection of his nomination by Parliament’s Appointments Committee left him with no regrets, arguing that the career he has built already gives him both professional fulfilment and financial security.

As I speak, I am very happy with the job I have. I am paid so well. No minister gets the amount of money I earn every month. In fact, I earn more than double their salary.

His nomination as State Minister for Internal Affairs dominated public discussion after Parliament’s Appointments Committee declined to approve it over questions surrounding his citizenship.

For Muganga, however, the outcome did not become a reason to look back.

He says he remains focused on leading Victoria University and has no reason to compare his career with those serving in government.

The ministerial controversy also put him on a collision course with Deputy Speaker of Parliament Thomas Tayebwa, who chaired the Appointments Committee during the vetting process.

Even so, Muganga says he harbours no personal resentment toward the Deputy Speaker and would welcome the chance to resolve their differences through dialogue.

I do not wish him any bad. I believe one day we shall sit down together and sort out these issues because I would like to understand why he said what he said about me.

Netflix Takes on YouTube With Bite-Sized Videos From BuzzFeed, Vogue and Variety

Netflix is making one of its biggest changes in years by bringing short-form videos to its streaming platform in a move that puts it in more direct competition with YouTube.

Starting August 3, subscribers in the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Ireland, Australia and New Zealand will be able to watch short videos from major digital publishers, including BuzzFeed Studios, Condé Nast, Hearst Magazines, People Inc., Tastemade, and Penske Media brands such as Variety, Billboard, Rolling Stone, The Hollywood Reporter, IndieWire, and Eater.

The new programming will range from two to more than 20 minutes, covering entertainment, celebrity interviews, food, fashion, travel, wellness, design and lifestyle.

Popular series joining the platform include Vanity Fair’s Lie Detector Test, Architectural Digest’s Open Door, BuzzFeed Celeb’s 30 Questions, People’s My Life in Pictures, and Billboard’s 24 Hours.

The move marks another step in Netflix’s strategy to expand beyond traditional films and television series.

In recent years, the company has introduced live events, video games, video podcasts and mobile features designed to help users discover content more quickly.

Rather than replacing its original movies and shows, Netflix says the publisher partnerships are designed to give subscribers more ways to explore the personalities, stories and topics they already enjoy while keeping them engaged on the platform throughout the day.

Industry analysts see the move as Netflix’s latest attempt to compete for viewers’ attention in an era dominated by YouTube, TikTok and other platforms built around short-form content.

If the rollout proves successful, the streaming giant is expected to add more publishing partners in the future.

While discussing the highly anticipated superhero film, the actor began describing its emotional finale before catching himself mid-sentence.

As emotional as the movie is, it does end…

Holland stopped short of revealing any further details, but the brief comment quickly sparked speculation among Marvel fans eager to uncover how Peter Parker’s next chapter will unfold.

Ronald Mayinja Reveals How WhatsApp Hackers Took Over His Account

Ronald Mayinja knew something was wrong when his phone would not stop ringing.

Friends and family members kept asking why he was requesting money from them, but the singer says he had no idea what they were talking about.

While speaking to Mark Mukunja on Music Taxi, Mayinja recalled that those calls were the first sign that someone else had taken control of his WhatsApp account.

My friends and family members started calling me, asking why I was requesting money from them and what I needed it for. That is when I realised I was no longer in control of my phone.

Only then did he begin retracing his steps.

Earlier that day, Mayinja had received what appeared to be an ordinary phone call. The caller claimed he had been invited to an online meeting before asking him to open a link he had sent.

Mayinja says he did not think twice.

I clicked on the link, and within a minute or so, I was logged out of my WhatsApp.

By the time he realised what had happened, the hacker was already using his account to contact the people closest to him.

The scam, however, soon began to unravel.

Mayinja explained that many of his friends became suspicious because the messages sounded nothing like the way he normally communicates.

The advantage I had was that the thief kept texting everyone in a lot of English. My friends found that suspicious because that is not how I normally communicate, so they started calling me to confirm.

Locked out of his account and unable to warn people himself, Mayinja turned to fellow musician Mesach Semakula for help.

Semakula recorded a video alert urging friends and fans to ignore any messages coming from the compromised account, helping spread the warning before more people fell victim.

I was with Mesach Semakula, and I asked him to record a video telling our friends to inform others that I had been hacked.

Balaam Praises Bajjo for Returning to School Despite His Success

Balaam Barugahara Ateenyi believes Bajjo Events deserves credit for choosing to return to school.

The veteran events promoter and Minister for Local Government says Bajjo made the right decision by continuing his education despite already building a successful career in Uganda’s entertainment industry.

Bajjo did a good job to go back to school. He did the right thing.

To Balaam, returning to the classroom is never a step backwards.

He believes people should continue learning whenever the opportunity presents itself, regardless of where they are in life or their careers.

The praise carries added significance because Bajjo had only hours earlier explained why education remains so important to him.

Using Irene Namatovu’s upcoming “Strong Woman Live in Concert” as an example, Bajjo revealed that the knowledge he gained at university, together with the practical experience he acquired during his internship at Balaam’s company, continues to influence the way he plans and organizes events.

He even credited those lessons for his decision to source the concert’s official tickets from China, saying they reinforced the importance of preparation, professionalism, and protecting fans from counterfeit tickets.

John Blaq’s heated altercation with event organizer over an alleged payment dispute explained

Singer John Blaq (real name John Kasadha) was involved in a heated confrontation with an event organizer after allegedly not being paid for a performance he had been booked.

In a video that has since circulated online, the “Angella” hitmaker is seen confronting the organizer and a woman believed to be his wife.

John Blaq accused the pair of attempting to stop him from performing despite the fact that he had already stepped onto the stage. He further alleged that they had threatened to physically assault him.

Addressing the crowd, the singer publicly identified the two individuals and told revelers that if anything happened to him, they should be held responsible.

John Blaq also condemned the treatment he received from the event promoters, describing it as unprofessional.

He expressed frustration over travelling long distances, enduring the risks that come with the job, only to allegedly face mistreatment and delayed payment.

I’m going to end here because he has told me not to perform. This gentleman and woman want to beat me up. If anything wrong happens to me, those two should be held responsible.

I’m going to perform for you fans, but they’re using force. I haven’t been paid yet, but they’re treating me in an absurd way. We travel long distances, face many challenges, and survive different accidents to come and entertain people. I just wanted you to know that if anything happens to me, those two are responsible.

The circumstances surrounding the payment dispute remain unclear, and the event organizers had not publicly responded to John Blaq’s allegations at the time of publication.

  • Kyambogo University’s Paidha Campus To Introduce Three New Degree Programmes For 2026/27

Kyambogo University’s Paidha Campus To Introduce Three New Degree Programmes For 2026/27

Kyambogo University is stepping up preparations for the 2026/27 academic year at its Paidha Campus in Zombo District, rolling out three new undergraduate degree programmes as it anticipates a bigger intake when admissions open in August.

The plans were unveiled during a benchmark visit that brought together staff from the university’s Paidha, Soroti, and Bushenyi campuses, an event that wrapped up with a friendly corporate football match against Zombo District officials at Bar Okoro Stadium in Paidha Town Council.

Built on more than 80 hectares of land, Paidha Campus is positioned to play a central role in widening access to higher education across the West Nile sub-region. Dr. Stephen Kasumba, Director of the Institute of Distance Education, E-Learning and Learning Centres at Kyambogo University, explained that bringing in staff from Soroti and Bushenyi was essentially a chance for them to get familiar with the new centre, since some may eventually be transferred there.

Kasumba announced that Paidha Campus will introduce three new full-time degree programmes in the coming academic year: Bachelor of Business Administration, Bachelor of Education (Primary), and Bachelor of Vocational Agriculture with Education. He described the move as part of the university’s broader push to expand academic offerings in response to growing demand for higher education in the region.

Dr. Joseph Rwothomio, focal person for Kyambogo University Paidha Campus and Acting Head of the Department of Education, said the new programmes will run on a full-time basis. He put the campus’s current enrollment at 450 students, with roughly 100 new students already admitted ahead of the next intake.

Rwothomio also welcomed the growing number of academic staff joining the campus and urged lecturers still working on postgraduate qualifications to finish up, noting that the university intends to prioritise qualified professionals from the local community in future recruitment. As he put it, priority will go to “qualified people from the local community.”

Kyambogo University set up Paidha Campus in 2024, initially running in-service teacher training programmes leading to a Diploma in Secondary Education and a Diploma in Primary Education. University officials describe the move into full degree programmes as another milestone in strengthening access to quality university education in West Nile, aligning with government’s broader push to expand higher education opportunities beyond major urban centres.

The benchmark visit also gave staff from the different campuses a chance to exchange experiences, build collaboration, and assess how ready Paidha Campus is ahead of the new academic year.
