“Wakilisha 254 – Mataa Mpaka Chee Vol. 2.0” – a Swahili-loving nation event with Kenyan old school and folk songs mixed with acoustic instruments, is coming to Kampala on 11th April 2026.
The event scheduled to happen at the Kampala Rock Gardens – Speke Road, will feature performances from renowned Kenyan entertainment acts, including DJ Fatxo, DJ Pierra Makena, and Wanjiru wa Waya.
Ugandan emcee and radio personality, The Only Jaluo, will be the emcee of the event organised by Athera Empire Events.
Speaking to Mbu, the organisers revealed that the event is aimed at “bringing the Kenyan vibe and music to Uganda and showcasing Kenyan culture in the +256.”
The Performers
- Wanjiru Wa Waya is a performer whose music is primarily in Kikuyu. She blends traditional Kenyan melodies with modern Afro-pop and Mugithi sounds.
- DJ Fatxo is a Kenyan Mugithi artist and entertainer known for Kikuyu music, his lively stage performances, and a strong following in the music scene.
- Pierra Makena is a well-known Kenyan (DJ) and television personality. She is considered one of Kenya’s most successful female deejays, known for energetic performances, media work, and acting roles.
In addition to the revealed performer, there will also be surprise performances from other artists who remain undisclosed. Revellers can also expect lots of nyama choma, mukimo pilau, and their favorite salad, kachumbari.
Tickets to the event are available at all Kenyan-themed bars and joints for Ugx80k (Ordinary), Ugx120k (VIP Single), and Ugx1.2m (VIP Tables).
