Kin Bella has revealed that she once came close to walking away from her music career after experiencing setbacks that left her discouraged and uncertain about her future in the industry.
Speaking in an interview, the artist recalled a period when some of her songs failed to meet her expectations, pushing her to the brink of quitting. During that time, she even considered relocating to the United States and starting a new chapter away from Uganda.
Kin Bella disclosed that although she currently has a significant amount of unreleased music, fear and lack of motivation have held her back from sharing it with the public.
According to her, the uncertainty of how the songs will perform, coupled with the absence of a strong team to promote her work, has made her hesitant.
She pointed to the time she worked on her song “Tonesipata” as one of the most stressful moments in her career. During that period, she was in close contact with friends who had been nominated for Grammy Awards as songwriters.
The group had plans to move abroad and collaborate on international projects, and Kin Bella was set to join them as part of their team.
However, those plans ultimately changed her path. While her friends relocated and never returned, Kin Bella chose to stay behind in Uganda—a decision she says still comes up whenever she reflects on her struggles.
They remind me why I shouldn’t have stayed whenever I rant about the challenges.
Despite the doubts, Kin Bella says she remained in Uganda because she believes she still has a future to build at home. She expressed confidence that her time will come and noted that she still has much to learn both personally and professionally.
She also emphasized that her journey is far from over, revealing that she and her friends remain in touch. While they continue to grow their careers abroad, she hopes to eventually join them once they are more established.
I told them to go and work, and when they stabilize, I’ll join them.
