The Bunyoro-Kitara Kingdom Chief Prince (Okwiri), Fred Mugenyi Ruchunya, has revealed that His Royal Majesty Dr. Rukirabasaija Agutamba Iguru Solomon Gafabusa is not in good health.
Speaking to the media, Chief Prince Mugenyi disclosed that the Omukama has been unwell but did not go into details about the nature of his illness.
He instead called upon well-wishers, subjects and friends of the Bunyoro-Kitara Kingdom to pray for the King’s recovery.
Meanwhile, Chief Prince Mugenyi also addressed the ongoing leadership situation within the Kingdom, confirming that the tenure of Prime Minister Andrew Byakutaga Ateenyi expired several months ago.
According to the Chief Prince, the Kingdom is now preparing to make changes to its leadership structures.
He further advised Byakutaga to peacefully vacate the Prime Minister’s office, urging him to leave without creating unnecessary conflict or engaging in wrangles.
The remarks are likely to attract attention within the Bunyoro-Kitara Kingdom, particularly given the significance of the Prime Minister’s office and the reported health concerns surrounding the Omukama.
The situation remains developing, and attention now turns to Prime Minister Andrew Byakutaga Ateenyi for his response to the Chief Prince’s remarks.
