Kid Fox is back in Uganda, and he says he returned after realising he still has something to offer the country’s music industry.
The veteran singer, real name Steven Kiggundu, spent nearly 16 years in Japan before deciding it was time to come home.
Speaking on Galaxy TV, Kid Fox pointed to his roots when explaining what pulled him back.
This is our home. We are the ones who started ragga. Remember, we used to sing ragga while using tapes.
His return is not simply about picking up his own career again.
Kid Fox says he sees things in Ugandan music that he believes he can help fix, along with spaces where his experience could make a difference.
That includes the younger generation, which he believes can benefit from what he has learned over the years.
I saw that there are things that I can fix in Ugandan music. There are spaces that I can fill. I can also teach the young and inspire them again so that they do not get lost.
Kid Fox also believes people should act when they know they have something to contribute rather than sit back and remain silent.
If you do not do what you have to do, that is also a crime. If you keep quiet when you have to talk, God can punish you for that.
