People who once thought Ugandan media personality Sheilah Gashumba and her father’s wife, Patience Mutoni Malaika, would never get along may want to rethink that assumption.
Sheila has now shown a much warmer side of their relationship, publicly celebrating her half-brother, Rwabugiri, and showering his mother with praise.
Rwabugiri turned one on September 14, 2026, and Patience shared photos from his birthday celebration, including one showing Sheilah serving cake to him.

Patience was clearly touched by the role Sheilah played in making the celebration special.
Rwabugiri is truly lucky to have you as his big sis. The love, effort and thought you put into making his birthday so special touched my heart. You created beautiful memories for him and for all of us. We love you sooo much and appreciate you more than words can say.
Sheilah returned the love with a message praising Patience’s role in the family.
Happy birthday to once again Rwabugiri 💗 Thank you @pmutoni848 for giving us some lovely baby boy! 💗 You are an amazing mum to Rwabugiri and an amazing wife to @FrankGashumba! I will always be here to love and support you always.
The warm exchange is particularly interesting because many people had speculated that Sheilah and Patience might struggle to get along after Patience became part of Frank Gashumba’s family.
Sheilah had previously made it clear that she would not call Patience “mum.”
During a Kasuku Live interview, Sheilah explained that Patience is younger than her and maintained that the title of mother belongs to the woman who carried her for nine months and gave birth to her.
That position naturally fueled speculation about how the relationship between the two women would develop.
Now, however, Sheilah is publicly showing affection toward Patience while embracing her role as Rwabugiri’s big sister.
She may still reserve the title “mum” for her own mother, but her latest message makes one thing clear: she has no problem showing Patience love and support as part of the family.
Happy birthday to once again Rwabugiri 💗 Thank you @pmutoni848 for giving us some lovely baby boy! 💗 You are an amazing mum to Rwabugiri and an amazing wife to @FrankGashumba ! I will always be here to love and support you always 💗💕 https://t.co/yu1zuJkxbB
