Roni Banton shares emotional story of graduation support from Gen Mega Dee

Singer Roni Tomusange, alias Roni Banton, celebrated a major personal milestone after successfully graduating from Harmony Health Care Institute in the United States.

The Tonywa Novuga hitmaker, who has been pursuing his studies in the US, opened up about the emotional experience of attending his graduation ceremony without any family member or close friend by his side.

According to Roni, the moment became particularly difficult after the ceremony when he stepped outside and saw his coursemates celebrating and taking photos with their loved ones.

Overwhelmed by the situation, he removed his graduation gown, headed into the office building and eventually drove off to work instead of joining the celebrations.

However, just when he was feeling low, Roni received an unexpected video call from Dr Amos Kigenyi, better known as Afande Gen Mega Dee, who went out of his way to make the former singer feel loved and appreciated on his big day.

Gen Mega Dee reportedly sent Roni some money through Cash App and also treated him and a few others to an all-expenses-paid dinner at Fogo de Chão to celebrate his graduation.

Recounting the emotional surprise, Roni said the gesture meant even more because Gen Mega Dee was one of the people who encouraged and inspired him to return to school and pursue further education.

“Done with the graduation ceremony, I put off my gown and entered the office building, but upon sitting down, I got a video call, and guess who? Dr Amos Kigenyi a.k.a. Afande Gen Mega Dee! He was like, ‘Oh noooo, where is the gown? I am video calling to see you clad in your gown.”

Roni went on to describe Gen Mega Dee as more than just a friend, crediting him for playing an important role in his decision to return to school and supporting him throughout the journey.

“This is the brother who not only inspired me to go back to school, but has always guided and supported this journey. And to see him come through when I was really down on my graduation has not left me the same. You saved my day and made me feel loved once again!”
