Grace Nakimera says some gospel artists have judged her for continuing to embrace music outside the gospel lane, with the singer claiming some even labelled her “full of Satan.”
The singer opened up about the criticism during an appearance on Sanyuka Uncut, where she was asked about claims that gospel artists do not always get along.
Nakimera does not put herself in a box when it comes to music.
One thing I can categorise myself as is a musician. So you will hear a gospel song, then later you will hear an inspirational song. As long as the song is music.
That view also shapes her response to gospel artists who struggle to get along.
Now, those who do not get along, why? If they have Jesus, they should get along. What has refused?
Her own experience, however, appears to have been more complicated.
When asked whether gospel musicians supported her at “The Power of Grace Live Concert” on Friday, September 11, 2026, Nakimera acknowledged that some showed up but claimed others judged her because of the music she performs.
They came, but they are a bit difficult, except my pastors, Pastor Bugembe and Pastor Charles Kasibante. The rest are judgmental, and they were saying I am full of Satan, that I sing worldly music, so I am full of Satan. Leave me. My God knows me, and He is the one who gave me that blessing.
Nakimera left her successful secular music career for gospel ministry after a spiritual transformation, taking her career in a completely different direction.
Her old music, though, has not disappeared from the story.
Ahead of “The Power of Grace Live Concert,” she revealed plans to perform a throwback mix that brings together some of her secular hits and gospel songs.
That approach gives Nakimera room to acknowledge where she came from without distancing herself from the music she makes today.
