Spice Diana has weighed in on the debate about female artists supporting one another, explaining why some musicians may fail to attend their colleagues’ concerts and press conferences.
The conversation has recently attracted attention, with some female musicians being criticised for not showing up to support fellow artists during major events.
Speaking on NBS After 5, Spice Diana said she personally tries to support her fellow female artists whenever she can, unless she has other commitments or is away.
Maybe sometimes they’d think you’re a regular who doesn’t miss out on being everywhere, so sometimes you can decide to stay home and not go.
She added that artists can also miss events because of their busy schedules, especially when they have performances or other engagements that were booked earlier.
According to Spice Diana, artists should also understand that they cannot simply attend every event without being invited.
Also, you can only go where you are wanted. There are places you can’t go and they should first invite you. I can’t show up uninvited.
The singer revealed that she has personally experienced situations where she attended an event to support a fellow artist but was met with an unfriendly attitude.
“It has happened to me before where they showed me attitude, yet I only came to support them,” she added.
