Mugina T. Karugire, the first grandson of President Yoweri Museveni, has graduated with a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) degree from the University of Exeter in the United Kingdom.

Mugina is the son of President Museveni’s daughter, Natasha Museveni Karugire, and her husband, Edwin Karugire.

His graduation was celebrated by his mother, who shared photos from the ceremony on social media and congratulated him on completing the milestone.

In her message, Natasha expressed pride in her son’s achievement and encouraged him to remain steadfast in his faith as he embarks on the next chapter of his journey.

She prayed for God’s continued guidance, wisdom and protection over his life and future career.

The achievement has drawn congratulatory messages from family friends, supporters and members of the public, many wishing Mugina success as he prepares to pursue a career in the legal profession.

The University of Exeter, located in southwest England, is among the United Kingdom’s respected higher education institutions. It is recognised internationally for excellence in teaching and research across disciplines including law, climate science, engineering, business and medicine.

Mugina’s graduation marks another academic milestone for the First Family, as members continue to pursue higher education both in Uganda and abroad.

Kololo Independence Grounds came alive over the weekend as thousands of motorsport enthusiasts, families and adventure seekers flocked to the NCBA Auto Show for three days of speed, precision driving and automotive innovation.

Conversations that started around engines, braking systems and vehicle performance naturally evolved into discussions about responsible road use, with Tusker Lite championing responsible drinking and reminding motorists that the safest journey begins with separating drinking from driving.

Speaking during the event, the Tusker Lite Brand Manager said the partnership with the Auto Show was about creating memorable experiences while encouraging responsible choices.

Every attack, save and near miss was met with deafening cheers, capping off a weekend in which motoring excitement seamlessly gave way to the world’s biggest football spectacle.

From daring drifts and gleaming automotive displays to spirited football celebrations, the Auto Show delivered a weekend that celebrated speed, community and entertainment in equal measure.

The Chief of Defence Forces (CDF), Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba this afternoon met Colonel Kim Seha, Defence Attaché of the Republic of Korea to Uganda, alongside his secretary Ms Choi Yun-Mi, at SFC Headquarters.

In his remarks, the CDF welcomed Colonel Kim and reflected on the many years of Uganda-South Korea friendship.

He commended the Korean Armed Forces for their professionalism and advanced technology, noting that the partnership has moved beyond diplomatic courtesy into practical, everyday teamwork.

The CDF also reiterated Uganda’s strong consideration of opening a permanent mission in Seoul to deepen bilateral ties and drive defence modernisation.

A key highlight of the discussions was the expansion of cooperation into healthcare and medical training. South Korea is globally recognised for its cutting-edge medical technology, world-class hospital systems, advanced surgical techniques, and leadership in biomedical research and emergency battlefield medicine.

Recognising this expertise, the CDF welcomed deeper collaboration in the medical field as a natural extension of the bilateral partnership.

Colonel Kim Seha thanked the CDF for the warm reception and productive discussions. He specifically committed to coordinating the training of UPDF officers in medical-related courses, leveraging Korea’s advanced medical expertise to enhance the healthcare capabilities of Uganda’s armed forces. He also welcomed Uganda’s plans to open a permanent mission in Seoul, stating that it would significantly deepen the already strong bilateral relations between the two nations.

The meeting concluded with both sides reaffirming their commitment to expanding the partnership not only in defence and technology, but also in areas that directly impact the welfare of service personnel and national development.

KAMPALA — The Minister for the Presidency, Hon. Babirye Milly Babalanda, who also chairs the National Organising Committee, yesterday briefed the public on the burial arrangements for the fallen Member of Parliament for Adjumani West Constituency and former 2nd Deputy Prime Minister, Gen. (Rtd) Hon. Moses Ali.

Addressing journalists at the Uganda Media Centre this evening, Hon. Babalanda said the country learned with “profound sorrow” of Gen. Ali’s passing on Saturday, 18th July 2026 at 4:00pm at Nakasero Hospital, Kampala. “Immediately thereafter, H.E. the President, as Head of State and Commander in Chief, officially notified the entire country about the passing of an iconic figure in politics, government, military, and Islamic religious life and a respected community leader in the West Nile region,” she said.

In line with Islamic faith, special prayers were organized on Sunday, 19th July 2026 at Naguru Mosque, Islamic University in Uganda – Kibuli Campus, Kibuli Mosque, and Old Kampala Mosque.

“The Government sincerely commiserates with H.E. the President, the bereaved family, the NRM leadership, the people of West Nile, Madi sub-regions, and all Ugandans upon the loss of a renowned leader and dedicated citizen. He will be deeply missed not only by those who knew him, worked with him, and were led by him, but also by generations of Ugandans who drew inspiration from his exemplary leadership and political career,” Hon. Babalanda added.

In accordance with Article 99 of the Constitution of the Republic of Uganda (1995) as amended, H.E. President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni directed that Gen. (Rtd) Moses Ali be accorded an official burial.

A hybrid National Organising Committee was constituted, drawing membership from the Office of the President, Parliament of Uganda, the UPDF, Uganda Police Force, and representation from the family.

H.E. the Vice President, Maj. (Rtd) Jessica Alupo will represent government.
Minister Babalanda called upon all Ugandans to join in honouring the legacy of Gen. Rtd. Moses Ali and to comfort the family during this period of mourning.

“May his soul rest in eternal peace,” she concluded.

In recent years, Ugandan musicians have faced growing pressure to prove they can compete on the global stage.

As the debate over taking Ugandan music international continues, Ray G says he has no intention of chasing global recognition with a sound that does not reflect who he is.

Speaking on NBS After 5, the singer revealed that expanding beyond Uganda remains one of his ambitions, but only if he can do it with music that stays true to his roots.

I do not want to go empty-handed. I want to go with something that represents us.

Ray G said he and his team are deliberately working on a sound that can stand out internationally instead of blending in with existing trends.

He also dismissed the idea of pursuing international success simply for money or viral attention, insisting that originality and authenticity matter more in the long run.
