Daxx Kartel has listed his top three Ugandan songs of all time, shining a light on records he believes have left a lasting impact on the country’s music industry.
At the top of his list is “Wendi” by Bobi Wine. He described the song as a timeless classic that perfectly captures emotion and storytelling, noting that its message about resilience and persistence continues to resonate with listeners years after its release.
For his second pick, Daxx Kartel highlighted “Mr. DJ” by Goodlyfe Crew featuring various artists.
He credited the track for ushering in a new wave within the Ugandan music scene, saying it came at a time when the sound was shifting and artists were beginning to experiment more.
The song didn’t just dominate airwaves but also inspired us. A whole generation of young talents believed in their abilities and join the industry including myself.
Coming in third is “Shida za Duniya” by Jose Chameleone. The singer praised the song for its uniqueness, pointing out that it stood out because of its deep message and distinct sound.
He noted that it tackled real-life struggles in a way that was both relatable and artistic, making it one of the most memorable songs ever produced in Uganda.
