Jennifer Lawrence has finally joined Instagram, but she has already given her followers an ultimatum.
Be nice or she is gone.
The Oscar-winning actress made her Instagram debut this week after years of staying away from public social media. Within hours, millions of people had followed her.
But Lawrence is not sticking around for the internet’s usual chaos.
In her first video, she issued a blunt warning to anyone planning to bring negativity into her comments.
So yeah, I am giving it a shot and if anyone says anything negative I will quit immediately, no questions asked.
Then she made it even clearer.
If anyone thinks something mean, I will know. I will know and I will quit.
Lawrence did not stop there.
She later posted on her Instagram Story with another warning, although this time she wrapped it in one of her trademark jokes.
Please be mindful that any mean or aggressive comments can negatively affect the baby. It is me. I am the baby.
The actress has never hidden her dislike of social media.
Back in 2018, Lawrence admitted that she watched what people posted but preferred not to participate herself.
I’m on it. But I’m a voyeur: I watch, I do not speak.
Her reason?
Too many opinions, too much backlash and too much attention.
Now she has voluntarily walked straight into the Instagram circus.
Her account quickly passed the million-follower mark, with celebrities and fans flooding the comments to welcome her.
So far, the response has been friendly.
Lawrence has made it clear, however, that she has a very simple exit strategy if that changes: she will delete herself from the whole thing.
