Ugandan singer Weasel Manizo has been summoned by police after a disturbing accusation that has quickly turned into a conversation online.
The drama centers on Sammy Amanya, a man who claims the singer stabbed him during a violent altercation earlier in the year.
Speaking from his hospital bed in an interview with Sanyuka TV, Sammy recounted a chilling version of events. He says the incident happened on January 19, when he had gone to Weasel’s home to carry out pest control work. According to him, the situation took a dark turn when the singer and his partner returned from a night out and found him with a crossbody bag he had borrowed while cleaning.
He claims that while in the bathroom, Weasel attacked him, striking and stabbing him in the stomach with metal knuckles. He says he collapsed and lost consciousness, only to later learn that the singer rushed him to a nearby clinic in a panic before transferring him to Nsambya Hospital for emergency care.
“They operated on me while I was unconscious. I later found out they had removed my spleen and repaired my intestines,” Sammy said, adding that medical records allegedly misrepresented the injury as a road traffic accident.
Despite the severity of his injuries, Sammy says the matter was initially handled privately. He claims that meetings with the singer’s family resulted in promises of medical support and financial help to start a business, commitments he says were later abandoned.
Tensions escalated further when he accused Weasel’s partner, Sandra Teta, of threatening to flip the narrative if he spoke out publicly.
“She warned me that they would accuse me of attempting to assault their daughter. That scared me,” he said.
But Sandra Teta has firmly rejected the claims, painting a very different picture. In a phone interview, she accused Sammy of trying to extort money from them, insisting he is in good health and has been dishonest.
“He has turned us into a business. Let him bring proof of what he’s saying. His story keeps changing,” she fired back, adding that she has records showing financial assistance previously given to him.
As the conflicting accounts continue to unfold, authorities have stepped in. Kampala Metropolitan Police deputy spokesperson Cconfirmed that a formal complaint was filed and that Weasel has been summoned to record a statement.
