Kabako reveals struggle with music earnings despite years in industry

Rodney Y Kabako, popularly known as Kabako, has opened up about his music journey and his close ties with Sheebah Karungi amid her ongoing legal dispute with TNS over copyright ownership.

Speaking to Sanyuka TV, Kabako revealed that all his music is hosted on Sheebah’s platforms, a move he says was intentional to help boost his visibility through her established brand.

All my songs are on Sheebah’s page. Sheebah is a big brand, and I accepted her to sell me. I’m thankful to everyone who speaks out about their music.

Kabako also weighed in on the ongoing court battle between Sheebah and TNS, emphasizing that Sheebah, as the artist, has every right to pursue legal action.

According to him, her decision to take the matter to court reflects her position as the rightful musician behind the work in question.

Kabako, who has worked closely with the TNS camp, expressed frustration over his own experience with music earnings. He disclosed that despite years in the industry, he has never received digital revenue from his songs.

People will say everything they want but for some of us it’s not about the money, we are sad. Ever since I started singing, I haven’t earned digitally from my music. I only earn from performances. I have never gotten any message from YouTube or elsewhere, our music was confiscated.

The artist claims that all the music he recorded under TNS has never generated income for him beyond live shows, leaving him reliant on performances to sustain his career. Despite this, he remains grateful to fans who continue to support his music.

Kabako further stressed his solidarity with Sheebah, noting that her legal fight also directly affects him since his music is tied to her platforms.

If Sheebah is in court, it means I’m also in court because all my music is on her channel. Leave alone being her close friend and a family friend, Sheebah helps to sell me.
